Notre Dame offensive lineman Christian Lombard's career is over, according to a report from Irish Illustrated.
Lombard, a fifth-year senior, reportedly has a bulging disk in his back. He is a three-year starter who was projected as a potential late-round draft pick.
The 6-foot-5, 311-pounder has lined up at guard and tackle for the Irish. He played in only seven games last season due to a back injury.
Sophomore Mike McGlinchey could take Lombard's spot in the starting lineup for Notre Dame's Dec. 30 matchup with LSU in the Music City Bowl.
A source tells Irish Illustrated that Christian Lombard will miss the Music City Bowl with a career-ending back injury (bulging disc).
