SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (AP) Highly touted Seton Hall freshman Isaiah Whitehead is going to be sidelined with a stress fracture in his right foot.

The Big East Conference school announced the injury Wednesday, saying an MRI found that the shooting guard has a stress fracture of the second and third metatarsal bones. Doctors will evaluate Whitehead's foot weekly.

The school said the injury did not occur at any specific point, but was caught early, preventing further damage. No timetable was given for his return.

The conference's preseason choice for rookie of the year, Whitehead has averaged 11.9 points and 4.3 rebounds, starting all 11 games. He has a team-high 37 assists.

Seton Hall (9-2) will play Maine at the Prudential Center on Sunday.
