San Diego State beats San Diego Christian 72-50

SAN DIEGO (AP) Winston Shepard scored 12 and Matt Shrigley added 11 in San Diego State's 72-50 win over San Diego Christian on Saturday night.

San Diego State (10-3) never trailed and broke away with a 20-2 run starting midway through the first half and ending at 35-15 on Trey Kell's layup with 1:59 left before the break.

Dwayne Polee II was not cleared to return after collapsing during Monday night's game with UC Riverside. Coach Steve Fisher and Polee spoke to the media before the game. Fisher said they are ''still determining the cause of the problem.''

Peter Beale-Wirsing led San Diego Christian with 17 points and eight rebounds. He was 2 of 4 from 3-point range and 6 of 12 overall.

After leading by 18 at the break and opening the scoring in the second half, San Diego State never led by less than 19.
