A Texas A&M assistant appeared to hit two West Virginia players on the sideline during Monday's Liberty Bowl in Memphis.

No. 7 on West Virginia is sophomore cornerback Daryl Worley. He was defending a pass that was overthrown and caught by the Texas A&M assistant on the sideline.

It appeared the Texas A&M assistant also struck a different West Virginia player at another point in the game.

According to Texas A&M, the hitter was student assistant Mike Richardson. A former defensive end at A&M, Richardson had his playing career ended as a freshman when he suffered a cervical spine injury in 2012.

Head coach Kevin Sumlin told Richardson to remain in the locker room after halftime.

At halftime, Texas A&M was leading West Virginia 28-27.
