North Carolina Central dominates IUPUI 70-49

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Dante Holmes scored 15 points to lead North Carolina Central to a dominating 70-49 victory over IUPUI on Monday night.

Karamo Jawara and Nimrod Hilliard had 13 points apiece. Hilliard also had seven rebounds and five assists for North Carolina Central (10-5).

The Eagles extended their home-game winning streak to 27. IUPUI won last year 71-65 but started slow and never got going in this game.

NCCU jumped out to a 25-6 lead with 8:35 left in the first period and held a 32-22 halftime advantage. Anthony McDonald hit two quick 3-pointers to start the second half and the Eagles went on to lead 58-35 with 8:03 left in the game. The Jaguars never challenged.

The Eagles made 22 of 50 field goal attempts (44 percent) while limiting IUPUI to 14-of-48 shooting (29.2 percent). NCCU scored 24 points in the paint.

D.J. McCall had 11 points for IUPUI (4-10).
