Old Dominion runs away from Mount St. Mary's 69-35

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Javonte Douglas scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Old Dominion ran away from Mount St. Mary's in the first half en route to a 69-35 victory Monday night.

Mount St. Mary's took its only lead of the game when Andrew Smeathers answered Trey Freeman's opening jumper with a 3-pointer and a 3-2 lead a minute into the game.

After that, it was all Monarchs, who ran off 11 straight points to make it 13-3 six minutes into the game and pushed the lead to 23 points by halftime, 42-19.

Douglas knocked down 6 of his 11 shots from the field as the Monarchs shot 28 of 66 (42.4 percent). Richard Ross added 14 points and Trey Freeman added 12 more.

The victory was the eighth straight win for Old Dominion (11-1) and its 12th straight win at home.

Smeathers finished with 12 points for the Mountaineer (4-7).
