William & Mary rolls over College of Charleston 75-45

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) Omar Prewitt scored 18 points to lead William and Mary to a dominating 75-45 victory over College of Charleston to open Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Marcus Thornton had 16 points and Terry Tarpey chipped in 12 and grabbed 10 rebounds for William and Mary (7-5, 1-0).

The Tribe jumped out to a 22-7 lead, was up 36-23 at the half and coasted to an easy victory. William and Mary never trailed, leading 52-28 midway of the second half.

The Tribe defense was stifling again, holding the Cougars to just 18 of 51 shooting (35.3 percent).They have been limiting opponents to 52.6 point a game at home. William and Mary was 32 of 58 from the floor (55.2 percent), and won the rebound battle 43-24.

Cameron Johnson and Canyon Barry had nine apiece to lead Charleston (5-9, 0-1).
