High Point beats Winthrop 90-87 in 2OT

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) Haiishen McIntyre scored the go-ahead layup in double overtime, then iced the win with a free throw and High Point beat Winthrop 90-87 on Saturday.

John Brown scored 33 for the Panthers (10-4, 1-1 Big South), including two free throws to tie it at 85 with 55 seconds left in the second overtime. McIntyre scored on a fast break layup on the next possession, then sank 1 of 2 free throws with 1 second left to seal the win.

Adam Weary scored 15 points for High Point, including two free throws to tie the game at 77 at the end of the first overtime.

High Point led 33-25 at halftime, but Winthrop steadily clawed back and took a 65-63 second-half lead after a 3-pointer by Keon Moore. Brown tied it at 65 with a jumper.

Moore led Winthrop with 30, Xavier Cooks had 16 and 10 rebounds, and Keon Johnson scored 14.
