Siena outlasts Fairfield 68-67

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) Javion Ogunyemi scored 15 points and hit two key baskets late to lift Siena past Fairfield 68-67 on Friday night.

The Saints (5-7, 2-1 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed by 12 early in the second half, but chipped away at the deficit as Ogunyemi scored on a tip-in and then hit a layup to grab the lead for good, 67-66 with 2:26 left.

After Lavon Long split a pair of free throws for Siena, Marcus Gilbert was fouled with five seconds left. Gilbert missed the first and made the second.

Marquis Wright missed two free throws, but Fairfield (4-9, 2-1) couldn't get another shot off before time expired.

Rob Poole led the Saints with 18 points, Long had 12 and Evan Hymes 10. Wright finished with nine points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Gilbert paced the Stags with 17 points and Amadou Sidibe had 10 with 11 boards.
