St. Peter's holds off Quinnipiac 66-60

HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) Quadir Welton had 13 points and 13 rebounds with nine and seven in the second half to help St. Peter's beat Quinnipiac 66-60 on Friday.

The Peacocks (7-7, 1-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) never trailed in the second half and stretched to their largest lead of 14 with 2:21 to go.

Quinnipiac (6-6, 0-3) had an 8-0 run to quickly get within 62-56, but Dominique Marvin and Desi Washington each made a pair of free throws for St. Peter's to hold off the Bobcats.

St. Peter's pulled away with a 10-0 run in the first half to lead 26-15 on Chazz Patterson's 3-pointer with 4:14 left in the half.

Washington led the Peacocks with 17 points and Trevis Wyche added 12.

Zaid Hearst had only two points and two rebounds for the Bobcats in the first half after two quick fouls but finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
