Felder, Oakland put away Valparaiso 89-75 in OT

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) Kahlil Felder scored a career-high 32 points, including 11 in overtime, and Oakland put away Valparaiso 89-75 in the Horizon League opener for both teams on Friday night.

Felder went 19 of 24 on free throws, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists. Jalen Hayes had 16 points with eight boards and Nick Daniels chipped in 14 points for the Golden Grizzlies (5-10, 1-0).

Tevonn Walker led the Crusaders (13-3, 0-1) with 22 points and Keith Carter added 18.

Oakland jumped out to a comfortable lead early, but had to rally late as Valparaiso fought back to take a 65-58 lead with 3:54 left. Daniels hit a 3-pointer for the lead and split a pair of free throws, but Carter followed with a late 3 to force overtime.

Felder hit a key jumper and sank 9 of 10 free throws to seal it in the extra period.
