Indiana State outlasts Evansville in OT 79-75

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) Jake Kitchell scored 21 points and Indiana State outlasted Evansville in overtime 79-75 on Sunday.

Evansville (11-3, 1-1 Missouri Valley) went up three in overtime after four straight free throws by D.J. Balentine and Blake Simmons. Indiana State's Devonte Brown worked the offensive glass for a tip-in, then Brenton Scott made 1 of 2 at the line to tie it at 75 with 1:44 left in OT.

After Jaylon Moore missed a pair from the line, Scott's layup broke the tie and Brown hit a pair of free throws to ice it.

Evansville didn't score a field goal in overtime and was scoreless the last 2:35.

Kitchell's tip-in with 1:38 left in regulation tied it at 70. Neither team scored in the remainder of regulation.

The largest lead for either team was six. There were 11 ties and eight lead changes. Indiana State (6-8, 2-0) led 31-30 at the break.
