Western Illinois holds off Omaha 80-78

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Mike Miklusak scored 21 points with seven rebounds and Western Illinois held off Omaha 80-78 on Sunday.

Marcus Tyus' 3-pointer with 22 seconds left drew Omaha within three at 78-75. Miklusak made a pair of free throws to push it back out to five with 15 seconds left. Tyus drilled another trey at 7 seconds for a two-point game. Omaha then forced a turnover, but Tyler Erickson's 3-point attempt missed and Western Illinois hung on.

Jabari Sandifer had 20 points and six assists for the Leathernecks (7-6, 2-0 Summit League). Garret Covington added 19 points and 10 rebounds as Western Illinois shot 50 percent from the floor and was 10 of 25 on 3-point attempts.

Tyus paced Omaha with 25 points. CJ Carter added 18 and Jake White had 11 points. Omaha was 5 of 19 beyond the arc.

Omaha led 33-30 at intermission.
