Late 3 lifts New Mexico State over UC Irvine 70-67

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Ian Baker drilled a 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds left to lift New Mexico State over UC Irvine 70-67 on Saturday.

As a tightly contested second half wore down, Will Davis II made 1 of 2 free throws at 4:25 to put UC Irvine up 64-62, but New Mexico State (7-9) scored the next five points - all free throws - to lead by three with 43 seconds left. Travis Souza's 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining tied it at 67, which only served to set up Baker's heroics moments later.

Remy Barry scored 19 of his 23 points in the first half to help the Aggies (7-9) lead 36-33 at the break. Baker finished with 10 points and Pascal Siakam added 14 points and eight rebounds.

Davis led UC Irvine (7-7) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Souza finished with 14 points and Aaron Wright chipped in with 11.
