Auburn fires co-defensive coordinator Charlie Harbison

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) Auburn has fired co-defensive coordinator Charlie Harbison in the latest move by coach Gus Malzahn to reshape his defensive staff.

Auburn announced the change Monday on its Web site, two days after hiring former player Travaris Robinson to replace Melvin Smith as cornerbacks coach.

Robinson had been an assistant on new Tigers defensive coordinator Will Muschamp's staff at Florida.

Malzahn fired defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson a day after the regular- season finale against Alabama. Harbison and Johnson had worked together at Clemson, Alabama and Mississippi State.

Harbison, who coached safeties, served as interim defensive coordinator during Auburn's loss to Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl.
