Foster leads Towson to 57-53 win over Elon

TOWSON, Md. (AP) Walter Foster scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, both career highs, to help Towson beat Elon 57-53 on Monday in the first ever meeting between the schools.

A 3-pointer by Tanner Samson gave Elon (9-6, 1-1 Colonial Athletic Association) its first lead of the game, 38-36, with 13:16 to play.

A jumper and then a three-point play by Mike Morsell sparked an 8-0 run which gave Towson (8-7, 1-1) a 44-38 lead three minutes later, and the Tigers led the rest of the way.

Ryan Winters pulled the Phoenix within two, 48-46, with 4 minutes left, but they would get no closer. Elon made just 2 of 8 field goals, and Towson made 7 of 10 free throws, from there.

Elijah Bryant led Elon with 12 points and Samson finished with 11, but made just 2 of 13 field goals, including 1 of 11 from 3-point range.

A.J. Astroth added 10 points for Towson.
