Bethune-Cookman races past Trinity Baptist 97-71

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) Brandon Stewart had career-highs of 32 points and nine rebounds and Bethune-Cookman raced past Trinity Baptist in the second half to win 97-71 on Monday.

The Wildcats used a 14-2 run early in the second half - 11 of which came from Stewart - to wrest control of what had been a close game from Trinity Baptist, a Division II program.

Bethune-Cookman (4-11, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) needed a pair of free throws by Stewart with 45 seconds left in the first to lead 41-39 at intermission.

Stewart was 10 of 16 from the floor with four 3-pointers and 8 of 10 from the line. Quentin Brewer had 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. Mikel Trapp had 14 points, Denzel Dulin 12 and DeLino Dear added 10.

Charles Cooks paced Trinity Baptist with 25 points while Kirk Hill added 19 points and Tyrell Johnson had 16.
