California passing game coordinator and outside receivers coach Rob Likens will be Kansas’ new offensive coordinator, according to a source.

Likens, 47, just finished his first season as the Golden Bears’ passing game coordinator and was also assistant head coach and outside receivers coach. At Kansas, he is expected to run a version of the high-powered Air Raid offense he learned from Cal coach Sonny Dykes, whom he arrived with in 2013 from Louisiana Tech.

Likens was assistant head coach and wide receivers coach at Louisiana Tech for three seasons. He was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Central Connecticut State from 2006-09.

Before that, he also was offensive coordinator along with quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at Southeast Missouri State for two seasons. He coached wide receivers at Temple from 1998-03 and was an assistant at North Alabama for six seasons, five as wide receivers coach and other as running backs coach.

The Brookhaven, Miss. native played wide receiver at Mississippi State. He joins new Jayhawks head coach David Beaty, the former Texas A&M wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator, whom Kansas hired last month.

Beaty replaces former Jayhawks head coach Charlie Weis, who had a disastrous 6-22 record in three seasons before being fired in September.
