Hot-shooting Colgate beats Holy Cross 74-60

HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) Damon Sherman-Newsome scored a career-high 30 points and led Colgate to a 74-60 victory over Holy Cross on Wednesday night.

Sherman-Newsome shot 11 of 14 and was 6 of 8 from 3-point range to lead the Raiders (6-10, 3-0 Patriot League). Ethan Jacobs added 16 points and Luke Roh chipped in 12 as Colgate combined for 65.9-percent shooting.

The Raiders led 35-32 at the break and Holy Cross started the second half cold, scoring just four points in the first 7:20 to give Colgate a 12-point advantage. The Raiders led by double figures the rest of the way.

Malcolm Miller scored 14 points and Robert Champion added 13 for Holy Cross (5-8, 0-3). The Crusaders led in points off turnovers (18-11) and points in the paint (33-22) but shot just 38 percent from the floor and 6 of 17 on 3-pointers.
