Mass-Lowell beats UMBC 73-61 in OT, ending game on 19-1 run

CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) Jahad Thomas made two free throws to force overtime, and Lance Crawford nailed a 3-pointer to kick off the extra period, as University of Massachusetts-Lowell defeated Maryland-Baltimore County 73-61 in OT on Wednesday night.

Mass-Lowell ended the game on a 19-1 tear after UMBC had taken a six-point lead, 60-54, with 3:29 to play. Matt Harris scored a career-high 17, Tyler Livingston 15 and Brad Schaub a career-best 13 points for the River Hawks (8-7, 2-0 American East).

Thomas finished with six points - all at the line - and Crawford with six, the 3-pointer his only field goal.

The Retrievers (2-12, 0-1) were led by Cody Joyce's first double-double of the season - 18 points with a career-best 11 rebounds.

The River Hawks made just six second-half field goals - four were 3-pointers - and hit all their free throws in the second half and overtime - 8 of 8 in each period.
