Coleman gives Nevada 64-62 win over UNLV

LAS VEGAS (AP) Marqueze Coleman hit a jumper with 5.2 seconds left to give Nevada a 64-62 victory over UNLV on Wednesday night for its first road win of the season.

After squandering a five-point halftime lead, and falling behind the Runnin' Rebels by six with 4:45 left in the game, Nevada closed the game on a 15-7 run.

A.J. West led Nevada (6-8, 2-0 Mountain West) with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Eric Cooper finished with 12 points and Coleman added six on 2-of-9 shooting.

Rashad Vaughn led all scorers with 20 points for UNLV (9-6, 0-2), while Christian Wood added 17. The Runnin' Rebels were outrebounded 47-39.

Nevada has now won three straight over the Runnin' Rebels for the fourth time in school history.

Trailing 55-49, the Wolf Pack scored seven straight points to take a 56-55 lead with 2:59 left in the game. UNLV's Vaughn buried two free throws a minute later, ending a near-three-minute drought, to put the Rebels back up 57-56. Moments later, Vaughn hit a 3-pointer to give the Rebels a 60-58 lead.

But the Wolf Pack wouldn't go away.

Cooper answered with a 3-pointer of his own, while Coleman hit 1 of 2 from the free throw line to give the Wolf Pack a 62-60 lead.

Vaughn tied the game at 62 after hitting a pair free throws with 13.6 seconds left.

The Wolf Pack swept the series last season, snapping an eight-game losing streak to the Rebels. It was the first time the Wolf Pack swept a regular-season series from UNLV since the 1994-95 campaign.
