Florida announced Wednesday that it has suspended center Jon Horford and guard Zach Hodskins for conduct detrimental to the team

The Gators play at South Carolina on Wednesday in the SEC opener for both teams.

Horford is a graduate transfer from Michigan. Over 13 games this season, he has averaged 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds. Hodskins, a walk-on freshman, has played only seven minutes over four games this season.

With Horford out, Florida started sophomore Chris Walker, who is averaging 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Coach Billy Donovan reportedly said that both players' statuses would be reevaluated after the team travels back to Gainesville, Fla.

“This is totally a coaching decision and has nothing to do with the university,” Donovan said, according to Gatorzone.com. “Our focus now is on this next game and playing with the guys we have here.”

Florida, picked to finish second in the SEC in a preseason poll, has gone 7-6 this season. After Wednesday's game against the Gamecocks, the Gators will host Mississippi State on Saturday.
