Cornell clips Howard, 70-60

ITHICA, N.Y. (AP) Shonn Miller scored 23 points, including hitting 15 of 16 at the free throw line, and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Cornell to a 70-60 victory over Howard on Thursday night.

Robert Hatter added 20 points on a near perfect 6-8 shooting from the field for the Big Red (6-8). Galal Cancer finished with eight points and five assists.

Cornell controlled the game with its defense, holding Howard to 37.7 percent shooting from the field and 7 of 23 from 3-point range. Offensively, the Big Red dished out 15 total assists as a team and hit 26 of their 28 free throw attempts.

James Daniel scored 23 points and added five assists to lead the Bison (7-8). James Carlton had 22 points and nine rebounds.

The game was tied at 27 at the half, but Cornell opened the second period on a 14-5 stretch to pull away.
