Maryville College postpones games due to flu outbreak

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Maryville College has postponed its scheduled men's and women's basketball games this weekend due to a flu outbreak.

The Division III school in Tennessee said in a news release Thursday that Maryville has been classified with a flu epidemic, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Maryville had been scheduled to play men's and women's basketball games Friday at Greensboro College in Greensboro, North Carolina, and Saturday at Methodist in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The school said it is postponing the games ''to help prevent the spread of the flu virus to these areas.''

School officials say they would attempt to reschedule the games sometime before next month's USA South Athletic Conference tournament.

Maryville's next scheduled games are Tuesday at home against Covenant College.
