VMI-Wofford outguns VMI 75-70

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Karl Cochran scored 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, and Wofford beat VMI 75-70 on Thursday, handing the Keydets their fifth straight loss.

C.J. Neuman scored 12 points, Eric Garcia 11, and Lee Skinner 10 for Wofford (12-4, 3-0 Southern Conference), who made 7 of 18 3-pointers (38.9 percent), including three each by Cochran and Garcia.

VMI tied it at 33 on a layup by Tim Marshall, but Garcia hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Wofford led 41-37 at halftime.

VMI led 54-52 lead on a 17-11 second-half run in which Phillip Anglade scored 10, but Wofford rallied and the lead traded hands four more times. VMI led 70-68 after QJ Peterson hit two free throws, but Cochran hit a 3 with 1:31 left to put Wofford back on top for good, 71-70, and the Terriers added four free throws.

Anglade and Peterson each scored 22, a career-high for Anglade, and Marshall added 13 for VMI (5-11, 1-4).
