Appleby with 25 points, Louisiana Tech beats UTSA 84-72

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Raheem Appleby scored 25 points, Erik McCree and Alex Hamilton added 16 apiece and Louisiana Tech beat UTSA 84-72 on Saturday.

Jacobi Boykins chipped in 13 points for the Bulldogs (12-4, 3-0 Conference USA), who shot above 50 percent in field goals (29 of 53) and 3-pointers (12 of 22).

The contest saw no more than a five-point difference in the opening half, and UTSA entered the break leading by one after an 8-2 run.

The Bulldogs went on a 16-5 run with 12:36 left to play for the first double-digit lead of the game. UTSA (7-7, 2-2) was unable to recover, getting no closer than seven points the rest of the way. Appleby scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half for Louisiana Tech.

Jeromie Hill led the Roadrunners with 24 points, and Kaj-Bjorn Sherman and Keon Lewis added 15 and 13, respectively.
