Vermont holds off Stony Brook in final minutes, wins 71-57

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Ethan O'Day scored 16 points and Kurt Steidl added 13 to lead Vermont in a 71-57 victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.

Jameel Warney made six-straight Stony Brook points to bring the Seawolves within five, 62-57, with 4:09 left to play after trailing by as many as 14 in the second half. Stony Brook did not score again, missing its last seven shot attempts, and the Catamounts went 7 of 8 from the line to end it.

O'Day was 6 of 6 on free throws and finished with nine rebounds. Dre Wills added 12 points for Vermont (7-8, 3-0 America East) and Trae Bell-Haynes finished with nine points and eight of the Catamounts nine assists.

Warney scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Seawolves (10-7, 1-1), posting his 14th double-double of the season.
