Oregon coach says loss of Carrington won't be a distraction

DALLAS (AP) Oregon coach Mark Helfrich says the loss of wide receiver Darren Carrington because of a positive pot test won't be a distraction in Monday's national championship game.

Helfrich spoke Saturday morning at media availabilities ahead of the game.

He says it's disappointing for Carrington, but the team has faced many distractions over the season. But he says how the team manages those distractions is what matters most.

Carrington is ineligible to play in the first College Football Playoff title game after testing positive for marijuana during an NCAA drug test, a person familiar with the test results told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of student privacy rules.

Not having Carrington leaves the Ducks down two key wide receivers against Ohio State.
