Idaho defensive line coach Bam Hardmon has accepted the same position at Troy, according to a source.

Hardmon, 34, has coached Idaho’s defensive linemen the past two seasons and provides a recruiting presence in Florida for new Trojans coach Neal Brown. He came to Idaho after spending 2012 as Charleston Southern’s special teams and linebackers coach.

A Jacksonville, Fla. native, he was a defensive graduate assistant at Illinois from 2008-11. He had short stints with three NFL teams and played for two NFL Europe teams.

Hardmon attended Florida from 1999-2002 and was a team captain his final season. He joins Brown in trying to revamp a Troy program that hasn’t had a winning season since 2010.

Troy introduced the 34-year-old Brown as its new head coach on Monday. He is the second-youngest head coach in the FBS behind Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck and was previously Kentucky’s offensive coordinator for two seasons.
