Washington's John Ross underwent knee surgery this week, according to a report from Adam Jude of The Seattle Times.

Ross sat out the Huskies' Sept. 20 win over Georgia State with an unspecified injury after reportedly suffering the injury -- two meniscus tears in his right knee -- the previous week in a win over Illinois

Ross started three games at wide receiver and three at cornerback this season. Over 12 total games, he caught 17 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns, recorded 16 tackles and one interception. The 5-foot-11, 179-pound sophomore also contributed on special teams, recording 938 yards and two touchdowns on 38 kick returns.

Ross is expected to be ready for spring practice, the report says.

“I’m going to need to have a big offseason,” Ross told the paper. “I just have to work hard. You never know: I might wake up one morning and say, ‘I want to be a DB. Or I want to be a receiver.’ So you never know. I’m going to work very hard to get bigger, faster, stronger and watch more film.”

Washington finished this season 8-6 after losing to Oklahoma State in the Cactus Bowl on Jan. 2.
