Quarterback Kenny Hill plans to transfer from Texas A&M but has not made a commitment to any school including TCU, Hill's father told Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports on Friday.

Texas A&M confirmed on Friday that the school had released Hill from his athletic scholarship. Hill started the first eight games of the season for the Aggies after spending his freshman year behind Johnny Manziel. He went 5-3 before poor play and a suspension led to his benching.

He was replaced in November by Kyle Allen, who started the final four games of the season and the team's bowl game, a 45-37 win over West Virginia in the Liberty Bowl.

Hill's father said his son had meetings planned in January, but had yet to pick a school where he'll transfer.

"While Kenny is indeed planning on transferring, we have not committed to any school at this time," said Ken Hill. "We will begin meeting with schools on the 15th of January when the dead period is over. Any previous reports suggesting we are committed to any school is simply inaccurate."

Hill started the season throwing for a school-record 511 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-28 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks on Aug. 28. He finished the year completing 66.7 percent of passes for 2,649 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His passing total led the SEC and was sixth in the nation.

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin also confirmed on Friday that Hill is free to transfer to any school without restriction. He will have two years of eligibility left after sitting out 2015 as a transfer year.
