Friday January 9th, 2015

Damien Harris, a heralded senior prospect who attends Madison Southern High in Berea, Ky,, announced on Friday that he has committed to Alabama.

Harris is the No. 1 running back and No. 11 player in the class of 2015, according to the recruiting service Rivals.com.

Harris drew scholarship offers from more than 20 programs but narrowed his options to Kentucky, Ohio State and the Crimson Tide.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder rushed for 1,507 yards and 23 touchdown on 100 carries in his senior season, even though he missed time due to an MCL sprain, according to MaxPreps.

Harris is the second running back in Alabama's 2015 recruiting class, joining four-star prospect Desherrius Flowers.

In addition, Bo Scarbrough, a five-star athlete in the class of 2014 who can line up at running back, enrolled at the school this month with Flowers and six other players.

The Tide did not sign a running back in 2014, but they signed four four-star prospects at the position in 2013, including Derrick Henry, who led Alabama in rushing this season.

With Harris, the Tide's 2015 recruiting class is ranked No. 1 in the country by Rivals.com.
