Yale clears bench, wallops D III Daniel Webster 102-47
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) Greg Kelley scored 14 points, Matt Townsend added 13 and 11 of 12 players scored as Yale defeated Division III Daniel Webster 102-47 Saturday night.
Six Bulldogs reached double figures in the bench-clearing win, a final tuneup before the Ivy League season begins next weekend, with Makai Mason and Armani Cotton adding 12 each and Jack Montague and Eric Anderson 10 each.
The Bulldogs (11-6) opened on a 19-0 run, with 3-pointers by Cotton, Montague and Kelley. The Eagles only briefly trailed in single digits when Michael Campbell scored to make it 20-9. Angelo Adon led Daniel Webster with 12 points.
The Eagles shot 30 percent (16-53) and were outrebounded 44-23. Yale outscored Daniel Webster 42-6 in the paint and 22-9 on second-chance points.
Townsend added 10 rebounds for Yale.
Yale, despite back-to-back losses to Vanderbilt and NJIT, completes its nonconference schedule with the most wins, 11, in school history.
