Gilbert leads Fairfield to 79-67 win over Siena

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Marcus Gilbert scored 23 points and Fairfield pulled away in the last six minutes to defeat Siena 79-67 on Sunday, ending a five-game losing streak.

Siena was within 63-61 won two free throws by Evan Hymes with 7:24 to go. Coleman Johnson's three-point play at 6:18 started a 10-2 run that made it 73-63 with 3:07 to play. From there, the Stags (5-10, 3-2 Mid-Atlantic) hit 6 of 8 from the line while the Saints (6-9, 3-3) were 2 of 5 from the field and 0 of 1 from the line with a turnover.

Mike Kirkland Jr. added 13 points and Tyler Nelson 12 for Fairfield, which shot 55 percent from the field, making 9 of 17 3-pointers.

Hymes had 18 points, Rob Poole 17 and Lavon Long 14 for Siena, which trailed 37-32 at the half.

Gilbert hit 7 of 11 from the field with three 3s.
