Charleston Southern cruises against Longwood, 68-54

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Saah Nimley scored 18 points and dished out eight assists to lead Charleston Southern to a 68-54 victory over Longwood on Saturday night.

Will Saunders and Cedrick Bowen each scored 14 points for Charleston Southern (8-7, 2-2 Big South), with Saunders adding six rebounds and Bowen finishing with four.

Charleston Southern's defense held Longwood in check much of the evening, holding them 32.7 percent shooting from the field. The Buccaneers also held a decided edge in the rebounding battle, 41-29.

Charleston Southern led by 19 halftime, ending the period on an 8-0 run. The Buccaneers also scored the first eight of the second half to push their lead to 27, the largest of the game.

Quincy Taylor finished with 14 points to lead Longwood (5-12, 1-3). Leron Fisher added 12 points for the Lancers, who have lost four of their last five.
