ABILENE, Texas (AP) Harrison Hawkins was 4 of 9 from 3-point range with 13 of his 20 points in the second half as Abilene Christian beats Nicholls State 71-54 on Saturday.

Abilene Christian (8-7, 2-0 Southland) scored the first five points of the second half and stretched to its first double-digit lead at 42-32. Nicholls (3-9, 0-2) twice closed within eight before Austin Cooke made it 47-36 on a 3-pointer with 12:20 left. The Wildcats held their double-digit lead from there.

ACU erased a nine-point first-half deficit with a 10-0 run and led 31-28 at halftime.

Parker Wentz scored 16, Cooke added 11, and LaDarrien Williams and Duran Porter each had 10 points. Williams also had 12 rebounds and Porter grabbed eight.

T.J. Carpenter had 14 points and Ja'Dante' Frye added 12 to lead the Colonels, who shot 3 of 17 from 3-point range.
