Monmouth ends 9-game skid against Rider, 55-54

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) Justin Robinson scored 16 points to help Monmouth (N.J.) break a nine-game losing streak against Rider in a 55-54 win on Monday night.

Monmouth's last win over Rider was Nov. 30, 2006.

Robinson hit back-to-back 3-pointers, then after a Rider basket, Andrew Nicholas hit another 3-pointer to bring Monmouth within 41-39. The Hawks took their first lead of the game, 53-52, with 1:39 left. After Rider missed a 3-pointer, Max DiLeo made a layup for a 55-52 advantage with 1:09 remaining.

Rider's Zedric Sadler made two free throws with 3.9 seconds left to pull within one. DiLeo missed the first of a one-and-one, but Jimmie Taylor missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Deon Jones added 13 points for Monmouth (8-8, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference)

Taylor led Rider (10-7, 4-2) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Matt Lopez had 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Broncs' 6-game winning streak ended.
