ATLANTA (AP) Notre Dame coach Mike Brey says forward Zach Auguste missed Wednesday's 62-59 win at Georgia Tech because of an academic matter.

Brey does not have a timetable for Auguste's possible return.

''He's handling it,'' Brey said. ''That's all I'm going to say about it.''

Auguste, the No. 12 Fighting Irish's second-leading scorer this season, stayed at school and didn't travel with the team to Atlanta.

Auguste has been the best big man for Notre Dame (16-2, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), averaging 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds. He ranks fourth nationally in field goal percentage at 65.3 percent.

No other Irish big men are averaging more than three points or three rebounds a game.

Brey added that Auguste is still allowed to practice with the team, but the coach wasn't sure if the junior will be able to play Saturday when the Irish host Miami.

''I don't have enough info on it yet,'' Brey said. ''I'll have more info tomorrow. It's out of my hands.''
