MADISON, Wis. (AP) Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda had plenty of opportunities to move on after coach Gary Andersen left Wisconsin to take the same position at Oregon State.

After transforming Wisconsin's 4-3 defense into a stingy 3-4 unit in just two years, the only job that Aranda wanted was the one he already had. He was one of six hires made by new Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst this week.

Aranda said Wednesday that staying on was something he wanted to do as soon as Chryst was hired last month. The offensive-minded Chryst says he thought that Aranda would be a perfect fit.

The Badgers also retained running backs coach Thomas Brown. They formally introduced Joe Rudolph as offensive coordinator and associate head coach. Rudolph coached under Chryst at Pittsburgh.
