Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescottannounced on Wednesday that he will return for his senior season. 

The junior quarterback told Sports Illustrated in October that if he would declare for the NFL draft if he were projected as a first-round pick. 

Prescott led Mississippi State to a 10-3 record this season, including a 49-34 loss to Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 1 for the first time in school history this season, which included victories over SEC powers LSU and Auburn as well as a narrow defeat at Alabama

Prescott completed 61 percent of his passes this season for 3,449 yards, 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 986 yards and 14 touchdowns. Prescott passed for a season-high 453 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in the team's Orange Bowl defeat. 

Mississippi State started the season 9-0 before losing to Alabama. The Bulldogs later lost to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.

Prescott cited the Bulldogs' 1-3 record over their last four games this season as one reason why he decided to return to school, saying he wouldn't want to finish a career that way at "such a great place."
