New Mexico St shoots past Bakersfield, 70-54

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) Remi Barry and Ian Baker combined to score 39 points as New Mexico State shots its way past Cal State Bakersfield, 70-54 in a Western Athletic Conference battle Thursday night.

The Aggies (10-9, 2-0 WAC) had a solid night from the field, shooting 55.3 percent (21 for 38) and 8 of 13 from beyond the arc in picking up their fifth straight win and seventh win in seven meetings with Bakersfield.

Bakersfield was just 38.2 percent from the floor (21 of 55) and 1 of 10 from distance.

Barry scored 20 points to lead New Mexico State and Baker drilled all three of his 3-point attempts in the first half to help the Aggies to an 8-point halftime lead, 35-27, and finished with 19 points.

Kevin Mays and Aly Ahmed both scored 18 points to lead the Roadrunners (4-13, 0-2), but none of their teammates had more than six points.
