UT-Martin beats Tennessee Tech, 63-60

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Deville Smith scored 16 points and scored the game-winning points with 2:23 left in the game to help Tennessee-Martin snap a seven-game losing streak to Tennessee Tech, 63-60 Thursday night.

Alex Anderson knocked down a 3-pointer with 5:27 left to give the Skyhawks (10-6, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference) the lead for good, 54-53, and Javier Martin scored on a layup to make it a three-point lead.

Smith hit a 3-pointer for a 59-55 lead, but Torrance Rowe answered a 3 for the Golden Eagles (9-9, 1-4). Smith's free throws made it 61-58 and Marshun Newell added two more free throws with 11 seconds left.

Twymond Howard and Anderson each added 11 points for UT Martin.

Charles Jackson scored 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field and added 10 rebounds to lead Tennessee Tech. Rowe added 14 points and dished off eight assists.
