Forward Kuran Iverson to transfer away from Memphis
Memphis sophomore Kuran Iverson will transfer away from the program after the spring semester, the school announced on Friday.
The 6-foot-9 forward won't play for the Tigers the rest of this season.
Earlier this month, Iverson favorited a message posted to Twitter that was critical of coach Josh Pastner after being suspended for a violation of team rules.
Over eight games this season, Iverson averaged 4.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
“Kuran and I visited and he will be transferring at the end of the spring semester,” Pastner said in a statement. “We thank Kuran for his contributions to the program and wish him well in his future academic and athletic endeavors.”
Iverson was rated the No. 5 small forward and No. 28 player in the class of 2013 by the recruiting service Rivals.com.
The Tigers (10-6), picked to finish third in the American Athletic Conference in a preseason poll, host UCF on Saturday.
