Hill leads Gardner-Webb past Coastal Carolina 82-67

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) Jerome Hill scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Gardner-Webb pulled away in the second half to hand Coastal Carolina its first league loss on Saturday, 82-67.

Harold McBride had 18 points and Adonis Burbage added 16 for the Bulldogs (12-7, 4-2 Big South), who hit 11 3-pointers, their third-straight game, and seventh of the season, with double-figure treys.

The Chanticleers (14-4, 5-1) had won 14 straight home games and are now 34-10 in the HTC Center.

Isaiah Ivey, Burbage and McBride hit 3s in the last 1:14 as Gardner-Webb took a 37-34 lead at the half. The Bulldogs had eight treys in 17 attempts in the first half.

McBride's 3 midway through the second half made it 61-51 and Hill's three-point play at 4:20 made it 70-54.

Hill, who was 11 of 22 from the field and 9-10 from the line, was one point shy of his career high while surpassing 1,000-career points.
