Woodley has 25; Northwestern St beats Lamar 96-84

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Zeek Woodley had 25 points to lead Northwestern State to a 96-84 win over Lamar on Saturday and give Mike McConathy his 600th career collegiate coaching win in 32 years.

It was McConathy's 248th win in 16 years at Northwestern State.

Lamar had been holding opponents to 66.8 points a game, but could not slow the Demons. The Cardinals stayed with NSU through the first half and led 62-61 with 12:19 left following Dontavious Sears' 3-pointer. Woodley answered with a jumper and a layup to start a 10-0 run for a 70-62 lead. The Cardinals closed to 74-71 but Woodley responded with a jumper and Jalan West had a three-point play. Lamar never threatened again.

West finished with 17 points and 11 assists and Sabri Thompson added 15 points for Northwestern (8-8, 3-2 Southland).

Anthony Holliday had 25 points and Sears added 17 for Lamar (9-8, 3-2).
