Stony Brook dominates Maine 82-39

BANGOR, Maine (AP) Carson Puriefoy scored 18 points, Roland Nyama added 12 with five steals and Stony Brook raced past Maine 82-39 on Saturday.

The Seawolves (12-7, 3-1 American East) shot a scorching 59.6 percent from the field, made 10 3-pointers and scored 38 points in the paint. Jameel Warney chipped in 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Rayshaun McGrew had six with 10 rebounds for Stony Brook, which has won seven of its last eight.

Stony Brook turned a tight first half into a rout, closing on a 23-0 run to lead 41-16 at the break. Maine made 6 of its first 10 shots, but missed the final 10 as the Seawolves shot 63 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

Maine (1-16, 0-5) was held to 14-of-52 shooting (26.9 percent) overall and gave up 23 points off turnovers in losing their 11th straight. Aaron Calixte led the Black Bears with 11 points.
