Northern Arizona outlasts Idaho State 72-69

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) Aaseem Dixon scored 20 points, Gaellan Bewernick converted a go-ahead, three-point play with 1:21 left and Northern Arizona outlasted Idaho State 72-69 on Saturday night.

Quinton Upshur finished with 14 points, Jordyn Martin added 10 with eight rebounds and Kris Yanku chipped in 10 points and seven assists for the Lumberjacks (8-10, 3-2 Big Sky). Northern Arizona committed just seven turnovers and forced 17.

Chris Hansen led Idaho State (4-14, 1-5) with 23 points and Jeffrey Solarin had 12 with 12 boards. The Bengals shot 53.2 percent from the field but gave up 28 points off turnovers.

Northern Arizona trailed for most of the second half until Dixon hit a 3-pointer to go up 64-63. Marcus Bradley made a layup for Idaho State, and Bewernick followed with his three-point play.

Dixon nailed a key jumper for a four-point lead with 31 seconds left and Upshur sank three late free throws.
