Hot-shooting Alcorn State scorches MVSU 87-67

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) Leantwan Luckett scored 20 points and led five players into double figure scoring as Alcorn State shot its way past Mississippi Valley State, 87-67 on Saturday.

The Braves (4-13, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) built a seven-point lead in the first half and expanded it by shooting 57. 4 percent from the field, including 8 of 18 from distance (44.4 percent), and converting 17 of 23 (73.9 percent) from the free-throw line.

Luckett made 6 of 13 from the field and knocked down 2 of his 5 3-point attempts while pulling down five rebounds, dishing off five assists and collecting three steals. Tyrel Hunt and Marquis Vance each contributed 15 points, Devonte Hampton had 13 points and Keynan Pittman added 10.

DeAngelo Priar had 20 points to lead Mississippi Valley State (2-15, 1-3), with Jeffrey Simmons adding another 12.

The Delta Devils shot 39.1 percent from the field (27 of 69).
