Seattle closes out New Mexico State, 58-52

SEATTLE (AP) Jarell Flora scored 16 points and William Powell added 14 more as Seattle held off New Mexico State, 58-52 in a Western Athletic Conference battle Saturday night.

Seattle led by 10 on Jarell Flora's layup with 8:04 left, but New Mexico State clawed back, cutting the lead to one on Ian Baker's jumper with 5:00 left.

Isiah Umipig drilled a 3-pointer and Jadon Cohee and Shore Adenekan added a layup and dunk, respectively, to push the lead to 56-50 with two minutes to play.

Seattle (9-8, 2-1 WAC) shot a brisk 51.1 percent for the game, knocking down 23 of 45 field goal attempts, including 6 of 14 from beyond the arc. Adenekan added 11 points for the Redhawks.

The Aggies saw their five-game winning streak snapped and just their second loss to Seattle in eight games.

Pascal Siakam had 17 points to lead New Mexico State (10-10, 2-1).
