NJIT pulls away in final minutes to beat Maine 65-55

BANGOR, Maine (AP) Damon Lynn scored 27 points and N.J.I.T. pulled away in the closing minutes on Monday for a 65-55 win and a season sweep of Maine.

The Highlanders (11-10), who beat the Black Bears (1-17) 90-86 in the second game of the season, got five points from Lynn and Rob Ukawuba in a 12-0 run for a 51-45 lead with 4:19 to go.

Maine was within five until Lynn and Winfield Willis combined each went 4-4 from the foul line in the last 1:11, giving N.J.I.T its second-straight season sweep in the series.

Ukawuba added 14 points for the Highlanders, who went 18 of 21 from the foul line. Lynn made all nine of his free throws and had five assists.

Zarko Valjarevic had 12 points, Kevin Little 11 and Garet Beal 10 for Maine, which made half of its 18 3s but was only 7-26 from inside the arc.
